Prince Anhai
Also known as Yangmei in Taiwan, this early-maturing variety was developed by Professor Zeng Fanwen, a doctoral candidate from Longyan Su Nong Seedling Co., Ltd. It is a hybrid variety created through crossbreeding using the tree species and the mother plant Anhai Soft Silk. The tree has a vigorous growth, strong branching ability, deep green leaves, and the leaf tips are relatively pointed when young, but become round after maturation. Some leaves have teeth while others do not, exhibiting distinct hybrid characteristics. It starts bearing fruit two years after planting, with excellent yield potential. It blooms in mid-to-late February, and the fruits mature in mid-May, 15-20 days earlier than Dongkui. The average single fruit weight is approximately 18-23 grams. The fruits are round, dark purple in color, with soft and tender flesh, containing 12-14% soluble solids. The flavor is sweet with a slight acidity, and the taste is better than that of Dongkui. It does not drop a large amount of fruit due to rain like Dongkui, and can be stored at room temperature for 3-5 days after harvest, being more resistant to storage and transportation than Dongkui.
