Product Introduction

Product Name: Red Princess Jaboticaba Tree

Description:
Red Princess Jaboticaba, also known as Red Concubine Jaboticaba or Four Seasons Red Jaboticaba, is a dwarf, early-bearing variety of the exotic Brazilian fruit tree Plinia cauliflora (Jaboticaba / Tree Grape). It is one of the primary “Four Seasons” varieties cultivated in southern China, alongside Sijihongfei and Sijiesca, and is particularly valued for its year-round fruiting habit and compact growth – making it an excellent choice for home gardens and container planting.

A Tree Grape That Fruits All Year Round:

The defining feature of Sijihongfei is its remarkable productivity across all seasons. Unlike traditional Jaboticaba varieties that produce one or two main crops per year, Sijihongfei flowers and fruits continuously throughout the year. This extraordinary trait means fresh fruit is available almost anytime, making it a favorite for pick-your-own orchards and family gardens. The fruit ripens to a glossy purple-black color, hanging directly from the trunk and branches like clusters of “black pearls”.

Flavor & Eating Experience:

Sijihongfei delivers a uniquely complex flavor profile – a single berry is said to combine the tastes of mangosteen, guava, sugar apple, and pineapple, with abundant juice and a sweet, refreshing finish. The skin is thin and soft, making it exceptionally pleasant for fresh eating. Growers describe it as “the best-tasting variety among Jaboticabas”.

Key Commercial Advantages:

  • Year-Round Fruiting – Flowers and fruits continuously in all seasons

  • Early Bearing – Produces fruit in 3–4 years, faster than traditional Sabará

  • Dwarf Growth Habit – Compact size ideal for patios, balconies, and small gardens

  • Rich, Layered Flavor – “Four fruits in one” taste experience

  • Thin, Edible Skin – Convenient for fresh consumption

Important Notes for Growers:

  • Growth & Management: Sijihongfei is slow-growing and relatively challenging to manage, with higher susceptibility to pests compared to Sabará and Fukuoka. Its flesh-to-seed ratio is lower than larger-fruited varieties.

  • Best Use: Suited for home gardens, container planting, and pick-your-own orchards rather than large-scale commercial fresh-fruit production.

Growing Regions:
Native to Brazil, Jaboticaba was introduced to Taiwan and later to southern China. Sijihongfei is now cultivated in Guangdong (Taishan, Foshan, Guangzhou), Hainan (Haikou), and other subtropical regions. In Taishan's production areas, mature Jaboticaba orchards with trees over 10 years old are open for pick-your-own tourism.

Harvest Season:
Year-round – with fruit available in every season under suitable growing conditions. A premium four-season Jaboticaba variety that delivers continuous harvest, rich layered flavor, and convenient fresh-eating quality – ideal for home garden cultivation, pick-your-own orchards, and specialty fruit enthusiasts.
