Product Introduction

Product Name: Granny Val Grape (Granny Val Muscadine)

Description:
Granny Val is a premium muscadine grape variety, bred from the ‘Fry’ variety by University of Georgia grape breeder R. Lane. It was introduced to China in 2007 by Professor Lu Jiang’s team through the Ministry of Agriculture ‘948’ Project and was officially certified in Guangxi in 2015. As a member of the world’s most disease-resistant grape species, Granny Val thrives in southern China’s hot, humid conditions with minimal pesticide use.

Appearance:
The fruit is nearly round with a yellowish-brown to yellowish-green skin that is rough with pores (lenticels). Single berry weight averages 7.29 grams, and each berry contains about 2–3 seeds. The clusters are loose with few berries per cluster.

Flavor:
Granny Val delivers a rich, layered, and unique aroma. Different consumers may taste apple, mango, or passionfruit notes – a flavor experience that is truly one of a kind. Soluble solids content reaches 13.5%–19% Brix, with some growers reporting pure sweetness with no acidity.

Nutritional Excellence:
Muscadine grapes are the only grape species rich in ellagic acid, and they contain high levels of polyphenols and resveratrol – powerful antioxidants that support cardiovascular health and anti-aging benefits.

Key Commercial Advantages:

  • Strong Disease Resistance – World’s most disease-resistant grape, suitable for organic cultivation

  • Unique “Berry-by-Berry” Harvest – Extended harvest window from late July to September

  • High Yield – Average yield of 1,743–2,673 kg per mu

  • High Nutritional Value – Rich in ellagic acid and antioxidants

  • Easy Cultivation – Low maintenance, suitable for southern China’s hot, humid regions

Harvest Season:
Late July to mid-August – with “berry-by-berry” harvest extending to September. A premium summer variety with strong market demand in organic and health-focused fruit markets.
