Product Introduction

Product Name: Daye Huapi Kumquat (Fourth Generation Smooth-Skin Kumquat)

Description:
Daye Huapi Kumquat, also known as Fourth Generation Large-Leaf Smooth-Skin Kumquat, is a premium kumquat variety developed from the renowned Rongan Smooth-Skin Kumquat in Guangxi, China. It represents the latest advancement in kumquat breeding, building on the legacy of the original Rongan kumquat, which dates back to 1758 and was once presented as imperial tribute. Today, it is recognized as the leading commercial variety for kumquat cultivation, prized for its large fruit size, exceptional sweetness, and effortless cultivation.

A Kumquat That Delivers on Every Level:

The defining feature of Daye Huapi is its impressive fruit size. While ordinary kumquats weigh 10–15 grams, this variety produces fruit averaging 30–60 grams – significantly larger and meatier. The skin is smooth, thin, and virtually free of oil cells, which means the fruit can be eaten whole, skin and all, without the pungent, spicy taste typical of ordinary kumquats. The flesh is crisp, tender, and bursting with juice, with an edible rate among the highest in the citrus family.

Flavor & Sweetness:
Daye Huapi delivers an exceptionally sweet flavor with a sugar content reaching 22% Brix – significantly sweeter than conventional kumquat varieties. The fruit is seedless or nearly seedless, making it exceptionally convenient for snacking.

Key Commercial Advantages:

  • Large Fruit Size – 30–60g average, far exceeding ordinary kumquats

  • Edible Skin – Smooth, thin skin with virtually no oil cells, no spicy taste

  • High Sugar Content – 22% Brix for intense, pure sweetness

  • Seedless – No seeds for hassle-free enjoyment

  • Effortless Cultivation – No flower-shaking or fruit-setting treatments required; natural fruit set rate is high. Growers report that the fourth generation produces clusters of fruit even without fruit-setting treatments, unlike the third generation (Cuimi) which requires careful management

  • Fast Returns – Bears fruit in the first year; full production by year 5 with 60–100 jin per tree

  • Extended Sales Window – Harvested in mid-November; with film covering, fruit can remain on the tree until the Spring Festival for premium holiday pricing

Growing Regions:
Native to Rongan, Guangxi, Daye Huapi Kumquat is now cultivated across southern China, including South China, Central China, East China, and Southwest China. The region's subtropical climate, abundant sunshine, and fertile soil produce fruit with exceptional size, sweetness, and eating quality.

Harvest Season:
Mid-November onwards – with film covering, fruit can be held on the tree until January–February for Spring Festival market access. A premium late-season variety with strong holiday demand and excellent pricing potential.
